Code Nation

I took a coding course for a year in my afterschool program, Double Discovery Center (DDC) in Columbia University. In Code Nation, I learned about HTML, CSS, and Javascript and created my own game for the final project. I decided to do a game on a haunted school because I was inspired by a Korean horror movie, Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum.

I am proud of this because a few months ago I didn’t know anything about about coding and now I know the basics. I struggled a lot when I first started coding because I’m not the best at Javascript but my mentors in the course were amazing and they helped me throughout the process. Although it’s not the best and there are many mistakes, this is only the beginning of my coding experience.

High School Projects

In this project, I used Adobe Illustrator to make my initials into logos using the design principles. I enjoyed finding the different fonts and learning about the tools on Illustrator. My favorite design I made is symmetry because it almost looks like a butterfly on a deck of card.

I had to choose any art style and create a graphic based on it. I choose Pop Art because it’s very bold and eye-catching. It uses typography that is 3D which gives it a loud feel. I wanted to combine the 1960s style and modern style to make myself look like I came out of a comic book. I had a fun time adding color and details to my work.
